Vincent Romano was born and raised and resides in Skokie. His family was active in social and civic activities sponsored by local churches and synagogues. His father served as president of the Skokie Boys’ Baseball League and Trustee for School District 72. Vince’s athletic career at Niles West High School spanned a variety of sports; e.g., football, wrestling, diving and volleyball. Rugby became the team sport of his choice when he was attending college. His Rugby skills were such that he was selected to play in the Premier Rugby League. More importantly, because of his leadership qualities and organizational skills, the University of Illinois, Chicago (UIC) offered Vince the position of Head Coach for UIC’s Women’s Rugby team, which he readily accepted. During that same time period, his interests included a tour as an AMA Professional Road Racer.
During the late 90’s, Vince began a career in Real Estate. The family business (which included his mother, Tommie Romano) served the real estate needs of the near north suburbs. His entrepreneurial and administrative skills contributed to their success and helped win the title of Top Producers with Prudential Preferred Properties. While working full time in Real Estate, Vince was asked to assist his father and brother in the Financial Services Industry. Earlier, during his college tenure, he served as an intern in the Financial Services Industry.
Eventually, Vince accepted an offer from Morgan Stanley to become a full time Financial Advisor. Currently, Vince is partnered with the Romano Group whose primary focus is to guide the investment strategies of retirees in achieving their primary goal of maintaining their standard-of-living throughout their retirement years.
Vince acquired an interest in politics early in life. His family’s earlier involvement in politics, nurtured an instinct to serve the public good. His grandfather was a precinct captain in Chicago’s 36th ward. Other relatives included a State’s Attorney, judge and a ward committeeman. His parents were often called upon to assist candidates in their political campaigns; e.g., Jerry Cosentino (State Treasurer) and Jane Byrne (Mayor of Chicago).
He is committed to keeping families together to make Illinois a top-three state for business climate, by creating jobs and prosperity. His focus is to reduce taxes on families-which is the number one reason people are moving. Also, focused on crime control, making it safe for our citizens. Believes in school choice for families.
“My fiduciary responsibility as a financial advisor is to assist retirees in maintaining their current lifestyle throughout their retirement years. The prudence exercised in dealing with the financial well-being of individuals, if elected as your state representative, will be applied in voting for those measures that will impact the financial well-being of the state and its taxpaying citizens. When the state cannot maintain a lifestyle within its allocated budget, it erodes the ability of its citizens to maintain their lifestyles.
Our state government has acquired the disdainful philosophy of bribing the electorate with their own money. The unprecedented increases in our real estate taxes and our state income taxes attest to that. If elected as your state representative, the strategy of bribing the electorate with our taxes, a strategy endorsed by our current political leadership to retain their political positions, will be exposed and no longer tolerated.
The economic climate in Illinois is such that Illinois-based businesses may no longer be able to compete effectively. Their forced migration to other states will result in the migration of workers as well. Virtually every family will be affected.
I, and others like me, maybe our last hope to take back our state and remove the embedded political machine that has created the economic apocalypse that confronts us and our posterity. Our businesses, forced to leave Illinois to domicile in other states, will leave behind tax burdens that those of us who remain will be required to absorb. Adding to that burden will be the unsustainable burgeoning state payroll orchestrated by our incumbent politicians to retain their political power base.
It is time to make this State great again! I am not part of the political norm that this State is accustomed to! I consider myself a Statesman, not a politician. If elected, I will not participate in the practice of passing legislation that will continue to enslave voters with your tax dollars. Like other responsible citizens seeking to dislodge the entrenched professional politicians, I hope to bring a breath of fresh air – an air of fiscal responsibility – to the people of my district and the State of Illinois.”
